1940s Tea Party

Templeton House Residents Enjoying 1940s Tea Party

South Ayrshire Council recently got in touch to inform care homes in the area of Ayr that to celebrate International Older Person’s Day, the area would be hosting different tea parties, or you could host your own! Templeton House decided to host its own for our residents and families as a 1940s tea dance theme. We specifically asked staff to dress up in 1940s costumes which the residents also joined in doing.

We also had a live entertainer in the home who sang songs through the decade. We decorated the home and tables with vintage tea party décor and had a delicious afternoon tea with traditional teacups and china plates. We also set up a separate reminiscing area for the residents and families to look through.

This event hugely benefited the team, residents and their families as we all came together for an afternoon of fun and socialising. Specifically, the 1940s-themed music was remembered by many of the residents who commented they hadn’t heard certain songs in a long time so it was a great way to reminisce.

Many of the families also commented on how the event was so well organised and set up that they made lovely memories with their loved ones and said thank you to the team for all their effort. It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all and we can't wait for the next event at Templeton House, near Kilmarnock.
