Our Very Own Vegetable Patch

Resident Picking Vegetables

Here at Templeton House Care Home, we are lucky enough to have a variety of outdoor spaces available for our residents. Our beautiful landscaped and rooftop gardens are the ideal spot for our residents to use throughout the year to get some fresh air with themselves and their loved ones, as well as the local wildlife that our care home in Ayr has to offer us.

On Monday 20th of September, we were fortunate enough to collect the potatoes, onions and marrow grown by our residents and provide our in house chefs with the ingredients for a tasty, homemade meal for all to enjoy. This was found to be very engaging for everyone involved, as colleagues and residents enjoyed themselves.

We regularly take advantage of our landscaped gardens, and when the weather allows us we host our activities outside. One of the most popular areas that our residents love is our vegetable patch, this is a place where our residents and chefs lovingly tend our vegetables to provide our residents with fresh and nutritious meals

There is no greater moment than when our crop is used to make dinner for our residents, the perfect opportunity for the residents to get involved in mealtime preparation.

Outdoor activities can be a great way to encourage our residents to socialise and get to know each other, this also allows them to feel a sense of independence and responsibility which we actively encourage at Templeton House Care Home. We have seen the first-hand benefits that gardening and the outdoors can have on our residents, which is why our team regularly arrange activities that can be taken outside.
